Home Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage in KL

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised technique that may support swelling management by helping move fluid from swollen areas toward working lymph nodes. It is very different from deep tissue massage. We provide it at home in KL, after assessment and with medical clearance where needed, as part of a broader lymphoedema care plan.

What manual lymphatic drainage is

MLD uses very light, rhythmic, skin-stretching movements rather than firm pressure. The aim is to encourage lymph fluid to move toward areas where it can drain. It is recognised internationally as a component of decongestive lymphatic therapy, which also involves compression, skin care and exercise. MLD is not described as a cure; it is a way to help control symptoms.

How MLD may help

For people living with lymphoedema or post-surgical swelling, MLD may help support swelling management and comfort. It can complement compression, skin care and exercise as part of a care plan guided by your doctor or lymphoedema therapist. We do not claim it removes all swelling or guarantees reduction.

Why a home visit suits MLD

MLD often works best as a calm, unhurried session, and many people managing swelling find travel tiring. A home visit in KL lets you rest before and after, keep to a regular schedule, and combine the session with your compression and skin-care routine in a familiar setting.

Before you book a home visit

A quick WhatsApp chat helps us check that a home visit is safe and suitable. We usually ask:

  • 1Which area are you located in (home, hotel or private residence)?
  • 2Where is the pain, stiffness or swelling, and how long has it been going on?
  • 3Was there an injury, surgery or medical diagnosis?
  • 4Any numbness, weakness, swelling, infection or severe pain?
  • 5Is there room for a portable treatment bed, and can you lie comfortably?
  • 6Have you seen a doctor or physiotherapist for this?

Frequently asked questions

Is lymphatic drainage massage the same as a normal massage?

No. MLD uses very light, specific techniques, not the firm pressure of deep tissue or sports massage. The two are not interchangeable, and firm pressure is not appropriate for lymphatic work.

Can MLD cure my lymphoedema?

No. Lymphoedema is a long-term condition. MLD may support swelling management as part of a broader care plan that includes compression, skin care and exercise, but it is not a cure.

Do I need medical clearance first?

In many cases, yes. New or sudden swelling, swelling on one side only, or any sign of infection or a possible clot must be reviewed by a doctor before MLD. We screen carefully and will ask you to see your doctor first if anything needs checking.

What spellings does this cover (lymphoedema, lymphedema)?

This page covers lymphatic drainage massage, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), and the conditions written as lymphoedema, lymphedema or lymphodema. They all refer to the same fluid-related swelling support.
