Quick answer
For a specific bout of muscular tightness, a short run of weekly sessions then a review often makes sense. For general maintenance, many people find every three to four weeks is enough. Active people may time it around training load. The aim is the least frequent schedule that keeps you comfortable, not the most.
For a specific problem
When you are working on a particular area of tightness, more frequent sessions over a short period, such as weekly for a few weeks, can help while you build other habits like movement and stretching. After a few sessions we review honestly. If there is no meaningful change, that is a signal to reassess rather than keep booking, and possibly to seek an assessment.
For maintenance and wellbeing
If you are generally well and using massage to manage everyday tension, posture strain or training load, a session every three to four weeks suits many people. Busy periods, heavy desk weeks or harder training blocks may make you want it a little more often. Listen to your body rather than a rigid calendar.
When relying on massage signals something else
If you feel you need a massage just to function, or the same problem returns within days every time, massage alone is probably not addressing the cause. That can point to a movement, strength or joint issue that benefits from a physiotherapy assessment. We would rather flag this than have you book endlessly without progress.
Frequently asked questions
Can you get a massage too often?
For most people regular massage is fine, but constant deep work can leave tissues sore and is rarely necessary. If you feel you cannot cope without frequent sessions, it is worth getting the underlying issue assessed.
How many sessions before I notice a difference?
Many people feel some ease after one session, though lasting change usually comes over a few. If there is no difference after a handful of sessions, we will be honest and suggest reassessing.
