Manual lymphatic drainage is a very light, rhythmic, skin-stretching technique that aims to encourage lymph fluid to move toward areas where it can drain. It is recognised internationally as part of decongestive lymphatic therapy and is quite different from deep tissue work. We provide it only after assessment and, where appropriate, with medical clearance, as part of a wider lymphoedema care plan. It is not described as a cure.
